A Festive Fun Run for All Ages

The jolliest event of the year is back! On Saturday 6th December 2025 at 10:30am, the streets of Portree will once again sparkle with Santas, elves, reindeer, and a whole lot of Christmas cheer. Whether you’re dashing, dawdling, or toddling, the Skye Santa Dash & Dawdle is the perfect way to kick off the festive season with friends, family, and the community.

  • 🎄 Festive Fun for All – Dress up as your favourite Christmas character and take part in a magical morning of fun, laughter, and sparkle.
  • 🎅 Free Festive Headwear – Every participant gets a Santa hat band to wear with pride.
  • 🏅 Finishers Medal – Every Santa Dasher crosses the line with a medal to celebrate the achievement.
  • 👶 Tinsel Toddler Dash – Free fun run at 10:35am in Somerled Square for little ones aged under 3.
  • 🐾 Santa Paws Parade – Bring your four-legged friend (on a short lead) and compete for the prize for best-dressed pooch at 10am.
  • 🎁 Costume Prizes – Awards for the best individual and team outfits – so bring your Christmas creativity!
  • ☕ Festive Treats – Hot chocolate and sausage rolls waiting at the finish line.
  • 💝 Make a Difference – Columba 1400, based in Staffin, enables young people – including those from Portree High School – to discover their potential and create lasting change in their own lives and in their communities. This year, we are raising funds in support of their remarkable work, helping even more young people from Skye to build brighter futures.

🏃 How It Works

  • Distance: A fun and friendly 1.75-mile route – suitable for runners, walkers, strollers, wheelchairs, and all ages.
  • Registration: Sign up online and grab a Santa suit or festive T-shirt (limited stock available).
  • Participation: Take part solo, with family, friends, or as part of a team – why not get sponsored and raise even more for our local charities?
  • Route: Starts and finishes at Somerled Square, winding through the heart of Portree.

  • Date: Saturday 6th December 2025
  • Registration:
    • Saturday 6th Dec – 8:30 to 9:45am @ Portree High School
  • Start/Finish: Somerled Square, Portree
  • Timings:
    • 🐾 Santa Paws Parade: 10:00 AM
      🏃 Santa Dash Start: 10:30 AM
      👶 Toddler Dash: 10:35 AM (a short loop around Somerled Square)
    • Distance: 1.75 miles 📏 Race Route: A fully marshalled 1.75-mile loop through Portree – safe, scenic, and suitable for all ages and abilities.

👶 Please note: Little Elves under 8 must be accompanied by a grown-up Santa or Elf.
