Meet the team

The Skye Events team comprises of four part-time staff: Race Director, Logistics Manager, Events Co-ordinator and Financial Manager. They report to a Board of Trustees, who steer the work of a Voluntary Committee.

Fiona

Fiona Baker

Project Manager | Race Director

Fiona joined Skye Events in April 2022. Prior to that she worked extensively in tv media & PR, and then ran her own business for 18 years. As a volunteer she's has years of experience of Social Enterprise and Charitable Organisations and was Chair of the Board of Trustees at Mallaig Pool & Leisure for 10 years where, as Events Director, she helped build the Road to the Isles Events brand which now includes a full Marathon and Run Festival in the spring and a mixed distance Triathlon in the autumn.

Fiona lives in Arisaig and likes to spend her time walking with her Barak Hound Ella, kayaking the amazing Arisaig coastline, and spending time in her Arisaig Apiary.

Paul

Paul Arcari

Race Logistics Manager

A passionate long-distance runner with a trophy cabinet full of individual and team achievements, Paul joins the Skye Events team just in time for the 40th Anniversary Half Marathon & 10K 2024!  Running isn't just a sport for Paul; it's a way to liberate his mind, body, and soul. He's no stranger to the Skye Half either, having conquered the course multiple times, including three first-place finishes and a best time of 72:33. It was that experience that partly inspired his move from Stirling to become the General Manager of the Plockton Inn. Beyond the track, Paul's a keen linguist, fluent in Italian and Spanish with a future goal of mastering Portuguese. This love of languages extends to a deep appreciation for European culture, particularly through the world of fine wines. His knowledge of Scottish malt whiskies and Italian wines is encyclopedic, and he possesses a strong understanding of European and New World wines in general.

Michelle

Michelle Baron

Events Co-ordinator

Michelle joined the Skye Events team in January 2023. Originally from Yorkshire, Michelle moved to the Highlands in 2009. Her background in Business Administration in hospitality roles will come in handy for her involvement in planning and organising our events. Michelle is a keen runner herself, having competed in the Skye Half Marathon, Dunvegan Castle 10k and the Skye Santa Dash. She also loves hillwalking, paddleboarding, skiing and heading out for adventures in the campervan with her hubby and her 2 dogs.

Julia

Cath Stevens

Treasurer

Cath also joined Skye Events in January 2023.  She has been a bookkeeper all her working life, having worked in various industries.  Cath and her hubby moved to Skye in 2011, having totally renovated their croft house over the previous 6 years.

Her two grown up children are mad on parkrun and Cath herself has always been active.  She took up running again about 4 years ago, mainly doing 5ks, and the Skye Bridge 10k last year, plus planning to do Dunvegan 10k this year.  Cath's also a keen walker, having done the Lochalsh Dirty 30 twice and also loves getting out on the kayak when the weather permits
